Billing & Insurance

FAQ's

1. What insurance companies are you contracted with?

Expand Collapse

We are not contracted with any health plans but we are willing to bill them for you as an out of network provider. Please check with your insurance company to make sure that they cover out of network Naturopathic Care.

If you are not sure of the exact details of your plan, simply download this insurance form. This form contains all of the questions to ask your carrier about your individual plan. You can acquire this information by calling the number on the back of your insurance card and talking with client services. If you bring this completed information in on your first visit, your insurance will be billed quickly and efficiently.

In any case, you will be responsible for your co-pay and any services rendered that are not covered under the scope of your individual plan. Please note, Dr. McAllister is not contracted with Oregon Health Plan or Medicare.

2. Do you bill all insurance companies?

Expand Collapse

No. We will submit a claim to all primary payers with the exception of Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) or Medicare. Please bring your insurance card(s) to your appointment. Once your insurance company has processed your claim, we will bill you for the balance. Billing a secondary insurance will be your responsibility. Payments are expected upon receipt of your statement. We accept Visa, MasterCard, cash, checks, debit cards and money orders. We charge $25 for all returned checks.

3. What if I do not make my co-pay at the time of the visit?

Expand Collapse

We charge an additional $10.00 fee if co-pays are not paid at the time of the visit.

4. What if I do not have any insurance?

Expand Collapse

If you are uninsured, we require a $250 payment at your first visit which will be applied to your charges. If charges exceed the $250 we will send you a statement.

5. What if I cannot make it to my appointment?

Expand Collapse

Please call our office as soon as you can. We request 48 hours notice for canceled visits. This will enable us to offer this time slot to another patient. We have after hour receptionists who can take these calls after 5 PM and on weekends. If you do not show or cancel with less than 48 hours notice, we will bill you at 50% of the amount of the office visit. We will accommodate emergency cancellations on a case-by-case basis.

6. What if my ex-spouse is responsible for all financial expenses but I bring our child to the clinic?

Expand Collapse

The parent who brings the child to our clinic and who completes the registration form will be the responsible party. However, we will submit a claim to both parent’s health plan.

7. Do you offer discounts to those parents who pay for services at the time of the visit?

Expand Collapse

Yes, if you are uninsured, if you know the services provided are not covered by your insurance, or if you choose to self submit your claim, we offer discounts if you pay in full at the time of service. We are able to offer this as we do not have to pay billing services to process your claim or to bill you at a later date. This does not include labs or immunizations.

8. Do you send unpaid accounts to an outside collections agency?

Expand Collapse

Yes. We will add on a $100.00 collection fee if this becomes necessary.

9. Do they report to a national credit bureau?

Expand Collapse

Yes, they do report to a national credit bureau and will add additional penalties and interest.

10. How are my charges determined?

Expand Collapse

Physicians must follow accepted national guidelines when determining what your charges (level of service) will be. They must code your visit based upon what services were provided and cannot take into account particular health plan benefit designs. Consequently we are unable to switch the visit reason and diagnosis in order for a claim to be covered by your insurance.

11. What if I think there is an error on my account?

Expand Collapse

Please contact the business office immediately. We will review your concern with the physician and let you know the outcome. You can contact via phone or the email provided on the invoice.

12. If I have an appointment for one of my children, and upon arrival, their sibling is also sick, will the physician be able to treat both children during the same visit?

Expand Collapse

Based on the physician’s discretion, your other child may be able to be seen without a separate appointment. However, there will be a separate charge. Please remember to pay all co-pays prior to your departure.
